Seeking Cleanup Leaders for The Greater Nashville Litter Cleanup

The Greater Nashville Litter Cleanup, organized by TEC and partners, is a Davidson County litter cleanup weekend taking place on October 7 & 8, 2023. Our goal with this event is to clean up at least 15,000 pounds of litter in one day/weekend across the entire County! We are seeking both "Cleanup Leaders" who will take the initiative to organize a cleanup in their community, and "Cleanup Volunteers" who will help cleanup at one of the events on the map on this page. TEC and partners will assist Cleanup Leaders by providing guidance, cleanup supplies, and event marketing. Cleanup Leaders will find a location to clean up and organize  volunteers for their event. We will all win with a cleaner environment!

Click the button(s) on the left to register as a Cleanup Leader or Volunteer by October 2, and we will contact you with more details and instructions. There are no minimum or maximum size event limits. If you are interested in volunteering at one of these events, use the map to the left to register for your preferred cleanup.

Davidson County Litter Cleanups

In addition to The Greater Nashville Litter Cleanup, we are organizing 25 individual litter cleanup events in Davidson County between September 2022 and December 31, 2023. This effort is funded by the Metro Water Services’ Davidson County Riparian Cleanup Grant.
The goals for this project are:
  • 50 tires pulled from waterways and recycled
  • 15,000 pounds & 75 cubic yards of debris removed and recycled
  • 50 culverts cleared
Why is this Important?
  • TN spends $19 million of taxpayer money picking up litter.
  • It is our responsibility to protect our waterways. They are home to countless species of fish, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and birds.
  • We are rewarded with cleaner drinking water, better recreational opportunities, healthier fish,  a better environment and economy.
How can you help?
By volunteering of course! Volunteers are essential to the project's success. With your help, we can have clean, thriving creeks filled with healthy fish and contributing to clean drinking water for our communities. Please click right for our current volunteer opportunities.
