Rain gardens help improve water quality, reduce stormwater runoff & flooding, add beauty and habitat for wildlife and much more! They are also IDEAL for residential areas. This event was originally scheduled for May 19 but has now been POSTPONED. On a date TBA we´ll be planting a rain garden in Spring Hill. Featured Projects
Sustainable Tennessee has a goal to develop and implement a statewide Sustainability Agenda with the input of a broad coalition including citizens, conservation groups, environmental policy experts, elected officials, and representatives of private businesses, industry, and educational institutions. The coalition meets throughout the year to develop and implement the Agenda, Visit www.SustainableTN.org for more information and to sign the 2011 Agenda.

Tennessee Tree Project has a goal of planting or caring for 1 million native trees in Tennessee. Tree planting projects are among the most popular programs we offer at the Tennessee Environmental Council, and they bring terrific publicity and community relations opportunities for our partners. Watershed Support Center - The Council works with local communities to educate, conserve and restore watersheds, including healthy urban forests for people, plants and animals. Our goal is to provide communities with watershed science, regulatory and other tools necessary to conserve and restore local watershed health. Hands on restoration work in Middle Tennessee includes our Duck River Opportunities Project and Fish Habitat Restoration Initiative.
Radioactive Waste Education Project With the support of a grant from the New Mexico Community Foundation, Tennessee Environmental Council is working to educate Tennesseans about radioactive waste disposal issues in Tennessee. We are reaching out to communities most impacted by disposal issues to ensure that they are informed, engaged and actively participating in the Department of Energy (DOE) decision making process concerning disposal of radioactive waste in Tennessee. Events Calendar & Volunteer Opportunities
Each month we offer opportunities for volunteers to help with stream restoration, rain garden and/or tree planting outings. We also host and participate in a number of educational and social events throughout the year. Volunteering is a great way to meet other Council members, network, get your hands dirty and have fun on a cool restoration project, and build your environmental knowledge.
