Help Stop Water Pollution for the Sake of Public Health and Our Environment!!!

Grassy Branch Creek -- Spring Hill, Tennessee – a tributary of the Duck River watershed system... Mud in Creeks due to improper development practices causes water pollution – a serious public health concern!

Because of the vigilant partnership work of TEC and TSRA, a complaint was filed with the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation – Water Pollution Control Division.  The residential developer was issued multiple citations for violating the “Federal Water Pollution Control Act” (“Clean Water Act”), their “Aquatic Resource Alteration Permit” (ARAP), and their “National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System” permit (NPDES).

The developer is required to repair damage to Grassy Branch Creek.  Silt fencing is in place at two levels of the creek bank with gravel and rocks to filter silt and mud… The large rocks used as a dam so heavy construction equipment could cross the creek (a serious violation) were removed from the creek by the developer… Public education and violations enforcement are two ways we can combat offenders who break the law.  Here’s how YOU can make a difference: Help TEC & TSRA help your neighbors and friends understand that mud in our tributaries causes water pollution.
