Sustainable TN: Policy Planning Meeting

Register Now:  Sustainable TN Policy Meeting August 25
9am-3pm ~ West End United Methodist Church ~ 2200 West End Avenue, Nashville, TN

Please join us on Wednesday August 25 as we begin to review and draft the 2011 Sustainability Agenda as well as beginning to prioritize issues and determine an implementation strategy.  This is our opportunity to speak with one voice about the issues that are most important to creating and ensuring sustainability in Tennessee – and we have the success of the Forever Green TN initiative, one of the top priorities of the 2010 Agenda, to encourage us forward.   We will also be discussing the 2010 Middle TN Flood and the Gulf Oil Spill as it relates to the 2011 Sustainability Agenda.

Since 2007, more than 800 Tennesseans and 230 organizations have worked to develop the Sustainable Tennessee Agenda.  Leaders of statewide conservation groups, businesses and other agencies come together each year to discuss the action steps necessary to create sustainability for Tennessee. The Agenda emphasizes the need to conserve our natural infrastructure and promote safe, healthy communities, quality growth and sustainable energy.

Each year the Sustainable Tennessee coalition reviews and updates the Agenda at the annual Sustainable TN policy meeting and then presents this draft version for approval (and to determine priorities) at the Summit for a Sustainable TN in November. (This year the Summit is planned for Novemver 5-6 at Cumberland University in Lebanon, please save the date.)  The final agenda is then presented to the TN Legislature in January of the subsequent year.

In preparation for the Aug 25 Policy meeting we ask all participants to review the 2010 Sustainability Agenda which will be the basis for drafting the 2011 Agenda.  We also welcome you to review the press releases the coalition sent  concerning the Middle TN Flood and BP Oil Spill .   For more information about Sustainable TN please visit www.SustainableTN.org
