Solar: 10 Steps to Renewable Energy for Your Business

1.        Request an Application

Ø      Call the State of Tennessee ECD- Energy Division and ask for Clinton Berry: Telephone 615-741-2994 or Email CLINTON.BERRY@STATE.TN.US

Ø      Request the Clean Energy Technology Grant (CET-TN Grant)

2.        Get a Design for Your Energy System

Ø      Decide what System you want: solar thermal water heating, photovoltaic (PV) electric generating and/or wind    generation.

Ø      Contact Gil Melear-Hough Southern Alliance for Clean Energy: Telephone 865-637-6055 ext. 15 for an installer

Ø      Schedule time with an Installer

3.        Fill Out Applications

Ø      Fill out the TN-CET Grant Application and the TN-CET Grant Agreement

4.        Send In Applications

Ø      Mail Application to State of Tennessee Economic & Community Development Energy Division C/O Clinton Berry 312 Eighth Avenue North, Tenth Floor  Nashville, TN 37243

5.        Application Review Process

Ø      The University of Memphis will review your Application

Ø      An economic analysis will be calculated for positive net present value and you will be notified of its approval

6.        Receive Your Letter of Approval

Ø      You will receive a letter of approval with the information you need from the state and the permission to begin the Installation

7.        Have Your System Installed

Ø      Your renewable energy system will be installed and you will notify the state of its completion

8.        Have Your System Inspected

Ø      Once your system is completely installed the State will have it inspected to complete the Grant Agreement

9.        Receive Your Money

Ø      Your Inspection will be processed and you will receive reimbursement from the state
